MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY - System Overview
This system can, by virtue of its prominent position in the vehicle, be instantly recognized as being a BMW derived item. This display component is used for vehicle information and entertainment systems.This is the more up market option being the TV panel style, Multi Function display which is fitted for TV or Satellite Navigation. This unit, along with any other included component interacts with all others on the same data bus. By this method this unit becomes the central control and user interaction point with all of the vehicles on board infotainment systems.

SM065 - MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY - Diagnostic Capabilities (Read Fault Codes)
Reads the fault code memory. The ECU can self detect a number of different problems with itself, its wiring and its associated sensors, storing the respective code if it detects any malfunction or reading outside of pre defined acceptable limits. Not all stored faults may cause the fault warning lamp to illuminate.

SM065 - MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY - Diagnostic Capabilities (Settings)
Values, configuration settings, and other stored information which can be read from the ECU. Read settings can also be stored as a standard HTML page for reference. These pages can then later be re loaded. Please note all the values are read only due to the fact that they are supplied from the ECU’s ROM or are internally calculated.

  • Part Number: This is the manufacturer's part number for the ECU.
  • Hardware Number: This is the hardware version which denotes the processor and circuit board type.
  • Software Number: This denotes the coding inside the processor for the hardware.
  • Supplier Number: A number which defines the supplier using a standard look up list of supplier ECU manufacturer numbers.
  • Coding Index: This the coding identification for the programming maps.
  • Diagnostic Index: This is a number that indicates the diagnostic capabilities support level.
  • Bus Index: This is a number that indicates the bus communication support level, the vehicle communication buses.
  • Week of Build: This is the week in which the unit was built.
  • Year of Build: This is the year in which the unit was built.

Realtime live display of the information the electronic control unit of the selected vehicle system is currently deriving from its input sensors.

  • Key status: This reading shows which key is pressed. None for no key pressed, multiple for more the one pressed or the name of the key.
  • Volume encoder: This reading shows the status of the volume encoder. The value can be between -32 and 31 depending on the rotation of the rotary switch. Rotate clockwise to increase the value and anti clockwise to decrease it.
  • Monitor encoder: This reading shows the status of the monitor encoder. The value can be between -32 and 31 depending on the rotation of the rotary switch. Rotate clockwise to increase the value and anti clockwise to decrease it.
  • Auxiliary: This reading shows the status of the Multi Function Display Auxiliary sense input.
  • Brightness %: This reading shows the status of the brightness in percentage.
  • LCD Temperature: This displays the temperature of the LCD display in degrees centigrade.
  • Photo sensor %: This Displays the status of the Multi Function Display Photo Sensor.
