Although we offer diagnostic tools that provide full access to the Body Electric Control Module (BECM) fitted exclusively to the P38 Range Rover (1995–2002 models), certain critical information is intentionally restricted. The BECM is designed to withhold this data through a one-time usage software lock, which also limits the ability to modify some parameters.

This restriction prevents the reuse of salvaged or previously used BECMs and makes trial substitution impossible. In many cases, it forces unnecessary BECM replacements, even when the module itself is fully functional.

To bypass these limitations, we connect directly to the BECM’s microprocessor, enabling full read and write access to all stored memory. Our solution allows for complete memory backups in hexadecimal format, saved as an HTML page, along with the capability to reload and rewrite data as need

BECM Cloning

If the original BECM is malfunctioning but still operational, and its data can be successfully read, we can clone this data onto another BECM of the same version—whether locked or unlocked. Mileage modifications are only performed during the cloning process; for standalone BECM unlocking services, mileage remains unchanged for legal reasons.

Additionally, we can read and modify the state of both the alarm and the EKA (Emergency Key Access) lockout delay. This is particularly useful because when a BECM is in an Armed or EKA locked-out state, it cannot be accessed through the normal diagnostic connection. If there is no way to disarm the BECM, the situation becomes a catch-22, typically requiring replacement with a new unit. Our solution provides an alternative by allowing direct intervention and modification, avoiding unnecessary replacements.

Full List of BECM Options

Alarm & Security Features

  • Alarm – Enable or disable the alarm. Disabling prevents activation but does not affect immobilization.
  • Alarm Lights – Modify the visual output method when the alarm is triggered.
  • Alarm Noise – Adjust the alarm sound settings based on market specifications.
  • Arm/Disarm Notification – Change how the vehicle visually signals alarm arming and disarming.
  • BECM Current Alarmed Status – Set the BECM to alarmed or not alarmed. (Cannot be set to "unknown.")
  • Current EKA Lockout Status – Set the BECM to EKA lockout or normal. (Cannot be set to "unknown.")

BECM & Immobilization Settings

  • BECM Status – Indicates whether the BECM is locked or unlocked. Locked BECMs restrict data access, while unlocked ones allow modifications.
  • EKA (Emergency Key Access) – Enable or disable the EKA system in applicable markets.
  • EKA Number – The 4-digit EKA code (only accessible on unlocked BECMs).
  • EMS Code Synchronization – Required for immobilizer function; synchronizes codes between the BECM and EMS ECU.
  • FOB Code – Unique identification code for key fobs (only accessible on unlocked BECMs).
  • Immobiliser – Enable or disable passive immobilization in applicable markets.
  • BECM current alarmed status: This enables to set the BECM to alarmed or not alarmed status. Unknown will be displayed if the value stored in the BECM is not a valid value. You cannot set the status to unknown.
  • Current EKA lockout status: This enables to set the BECM to EKA lockout or normal status. Unknown will be displayed if the value stored in the BECM is not a valid value. You cannot set the status to unknown.

Vehicle Features & Configuration

  • Catalyst Amplifier/Heater – Enable for markets where catalyst heaters are required (e.g., Japan).
  • Cruise Control – Specify if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
  • Daylight Running Lights – Configure headlamps or sidelights as daytime running lights, or disable the feature.
  • Drive Configuration – Specify left-hand drive (LHD) or right-hand drive (RHD).
  • Engine Type – Select engine management system:
    • Motronic (post-1999, "overlapping sausage" intake plenum)
    • GEMS (pre-1999, flat intake plenum with engine capacity label)
    • Diesel EDC
  • Fog Lights – Specify whether front fog lights are installed.
  • Gearbox Type – Specify manual or automatic transmission.
  • Key Warning – Enable or disable the key-in-ignition warning chime.
  • Lazy Locking – Adjust conditions for lazy locking activation.
  • Language – Set the display language.

Market-Specific Settings

  • Market Configuration – Ensures proper vehicle operation. Required for new BECMs (prevents "Market Not Set" message).
  • Mislock Notification – Adjust the method of mislock warning (interior light vs. alarm sounder).
  • Moisture Detection – Enable or disable the moisture detection warning.
  • Service Light – Enable service reminder light (activates after 50,000 miles / 80,500 km in applicable markets).
  • Sounder Type – Configure alarm sounder settings based on market requirements.
  • Speed Limit Warning – Adjust the overspeed warning threshold (100 or 120).
  • UK Police Mode – Configures the BECM for police vehicle specifications (requires additional rewiring).

Comfort & Convenience Features

  • Range Lamp – Enable or disable the high/low range selector backlight function.
  • Sunroof – Specify if an electric sunroof is installed.
  • Trip Computer – Indicate whether a trip computer is installed.
