LIGHT CHECK MODULE

The Lighting Control Module, sometimes also referred to as the Light Check Module is a very sophisticated system which has a huge degree of flexibility built into its configuration memory. Although it is a BMW derived system and looks identical, by virtue of the CPU code being altered, BMW can easily produce variants with Vehicle specific functionality and options. In this case there are four known variations. Variations 12/13/14 are identical and have been included in one module but version 11 is so different from the others in the way their huge memory is laid out that we have had to produce a separate module for variation 11. The variations are denoted by their Coding Index (CI), which is printed on the ECU itself being either version 11 or 12/13/14. The two sets of ECUs are not interchangeable diagnostically and the correct version must be selected.
