IPAC3 (ROVER 75)

Used in all variants of the Rover 75 and MG equivalents, the IPAC 3 is manufactured by VDO and available in two variants, high line and Low line. The difference being that the High line has in its oval upper centre display area, an LCD panel with a Vehicle plan view, where the low line simply has a grid of warning lamps. The Instrument Pack (IPAC) is in fact far more sophisticated that might be imagined, performing a number of less obvious roles than that of relaying information to the driver. For example the IPAC forms a diagnostic translation gateway between the diagnostic socket and many other ECU's in the vehicle. The IPAC also has coded within its memory information which denotes exact vehicle specifications, options and equipment fitments to guide dealer level equipment in its choices and selections. During the period of usage a small number of different coding indexes were introduced. And caution should be taken if moving data between IPACs with different coding indexes.
